Contemporary and modern school

 

History

 

The first school in the village was founded in 1865. It was a monastery school and was housed in a small building in the southeast part of "The Assumption" Church. Twenty pupils graduated their fourth class degree and then they entered "St. Peter and Pavel" Monastery. Later the number of people in the village increased so the number of the pupils increased, too. There was a necessity of a new school. And it was built in 1879 and was situated between the church and the hospital. The initiators were Angel Giurov and Angel Razloganov. The building was made by self-taxation in money and in materials. The wood was transported from Patalenski Balkan, Elovitza place. In the new school there were better conditions for the teachers’ work. After the Liberation, the first teachers did not have a special pedagogical education but in the next years other teachers with better intellectual and pedagogical qualifica-

tion replaced them. The number of thepupils was 153 in 1909.

By the end of 1921 there was not a state school. In 1922 according to the prescript N979/18.01.1922 from the Plovdiv county inspection was founded the first junior high school class. Assen Aleksiev was the principal at that time.
It became necessary to build a new, bigger school because of the growing of Patalenitza. There was an auction on 29.01.1922 for the building of the present school, which was won by Kostadin Barakov. At that time the mayor of the village was Nikola Razloganov, a member of the Bulgarian Agrarian Union, a friend of Alexander Stamboliysky. Stamboliysky provided the resources for the school building. The official laying of the fundamental stone was on 15.04.1923. By December it was finished and according to its chronical book the classess have been continuing without breaking till now.
 

The school today

 

After the integration of Patalenitza and Batkun the principal of the school for many years was Andrey Andreev. Under his management the new extension of the school, a central heating in it, in the city-hall and in the day nursery were installed.
Today the school in Patalenitza has its own appearance and traditions. Its activities are known in the whole country and abroad. The pupils and the teachers have the necessary equipment, which is a dream for many schools even in some big cities. The main priority in the teachers’ work is the responsibility for the education of every child. They bring up wise, self-confident children who can cope with their tasks. The pupils are bound up in various activities. The pedagogical team works on many projects and attracts resources to enrich the necessary equipment. They have organized various out-of-class activities. The teachers, the pupils and the parents in our school work in mutual trust and partnership conditions.
