SOME NEWS
Some participants in the "Patalenitza and Batkun – known and unknown" project visited the Metropolitan Arseniy from Plovdiv. Nikola Kolev, Angel Tashkov, and Angel Nalbantsky told Father Arseniy about the project and the idea to collect various finds and valuable things from "St St Peter and Pavel" monastery in an original museum. It is known that the great Bulgarian painter – Stanislav Dospevsky painted icons in Batkun monastery but very few people could see the originals. These valuables will be video recorded and presented in the historical collection of the village. The materials will be used for school training.
Father Arseniy greeted the initiatives of the School Board of Trustees and promised his total support.
The teacher – Angel Tashkov stood up for the initiative to collect some information and photos of the mayors of the village of Patalenitza from 1800 till now. With the cooperation of the villagers and the former mayors’ relatives, at this moment the names of the 36 mayors are written and the photos of 24 of them are collected. Todor Iankulov, a former mayor of the village of Patalenitza, gave some valuable information about the mayors of Batkun. A special board will be formed with the collected materials in the historical collection in the village of Patalenitza.
On 5th May 2005 the historical collection of the village will be opened. A subject-expositional plan is prepared. Panels, textiles and models are bought. These models will be dressed in national costumes.
"Petrovden" drama school is preparing "Legends about Patalenitza and Batkun". In an original way the audience will be made familiar with the legends about the growing up of the village of Patalenitza and with the revealing of the "St Dimitar" church. The performances can be expected on 20th and 21st May 2005.
