The monument with the fountain in Patalenitza was built as a symbol of the thankfulness to 28 residents of Patalenutza, who died during the Balkan, Between Allied, and the First World Wars. It was been building during the government of the Bulgarian Agrarian People’s Union when the mayor was Nikola Razloganov. He supported the initiative with other public-spirited people as Kuozman Kozarev, Dimitar Temelkov, Temelko Peev. During the building of the monument they were gathering half a bushel of wheat a person to pay to the constructor Boris Daskalov. On St. Yordan’s day the cross was thrown in the fountain which appears to the continuation of the backside of the monument.
In 1973 the monument was destroyed because of the cross which was at its top.
The monument was restored in its authentic appearance in 1992 in accordance with an old photo. A memorial plaque was put on it in memory of all the people from Patalenitza, who died during the Second World War. Due to Zaprin Arnaoudov and Al. Tomov’s donation this restoring was possible.
Today, the authentic plaque of the former monument is in the garden, on the left of the new one, under an old tree.
