Kiwi grows very well in Patalenitza

In the area of Patalenitza – Batkun there are deciduous trees: birch, oak, and hornbeam. Higher there are mixed forests and on the slopes of the Rhodopean hill Karkarya there are coniferous forests. In the past the forest reached the suburban neighbourhoods of the village. In the shady forests there is a variety of eatable mushrooms. It is interesting to point out that on the dry calcareous terrain there are fig trees. Local people know that even in sub – zero temperatures these trees do not freeze. There are also a lot of cherry trees. And more people are starting to grow kiwi trees. Nature resources and the mountains variety are the premise for a lot of game to live here. There are boars, deer, roe, foxes, jackals, wild cats, badgers, hares, squirrels, partridges, hazel grouses, martens, wood pigeons. You can rarely see bears. In the

village of Patalenitza there is an organized hunting group.
